Marketing Managers Cherie Kok of Glacier Ridge and Donna-Lee Morettin of Chartwell Select answer locals questions about Assisted Living.

On August 17th the Manitouwadge Recreational Center hosted the Chartwell Select and Glacier River Retirement Residence Seminar. Two representatives from both locations came to Manitouwadge to educate residents on how assisted living could be beneficial to seniors. The pair wanted all to be sure that everyone understood that this was not a long term care facility. Donna-Lee, a marketing Manager from Chartwell Select stated that the Senior's residence is an Assisted Living environment. That means you have many services available to you such as, a 24 hour emergency response, a nurse on staff 24 hours a day, a dining room that serves 3 meals a day plus snacks, there is a theatre for movie viewing that doubles as a spiritual room and serves many religious denominations, a hair salon, a shuttle that take special outings to different locations in the area, a spa, library, a bistro, fitness room that works with physio therapy patients and so much more. If you are in need of help within your apartment, laundry services are available. Respite and Convalescent Care is also available to those in need of it.  Marketing Manager Cherie Kok of Glacier Ridge stated that the idea behind this seminar wasn't to lure people in but to educate seniors about possible options for when they are ready to take that next step. She also explained that the costs of long term care are comparable to that of the Assisted Living Residences. Both residences are open to visitors at anytime and if you call ahead you are able to enjoy a meal at the residence. This way you can take your time looking around and observing the relationship created between staff and residents.  One of the benefits to Chartwell and Glacier Ridge is that you don't have to live there full time. People are able to stay for one night, a week, a month or however long they so choose. The cost per night varies between $68 -$125. This also includes meals. There are many options with both residences.
